Denim & Diamonds
A night of Big Bands and Country Swing
Join us for Coronation XXXVI Saturday, October 30, 2010.Excitement fills the air. What we know as getting "gussied up" gets more frantic as each participant dons their "Sunday Best". Breaths are taken as we complete last minute steaming & pressing, polishing up the jewels and just a touch more hairspray to make those hairstyles that our city is known for a bit bigger. All of this is in preparation for our own personalized version of Project Runway in Big D fashion! The "D" is increasing a notch with each move and high heel seen stepping out of a Limo. Is that royalty? A Movie queen? Oh my, she is so tall! Oh who is she? Oh I know her, don’t you? Isn’t it? Oh, my goodness no, that’s a man! Who are all these majestic personages in jewels and crowns, Tuxedos and gowns, resembling royalty at its best?
By the way we drawl and the way we dress.
We’re from Big D, my oh yes.
I mean Big D, little a, double l, a s.
And that spells...
Yes, the Big D could stand for Dazzling, Dynamic, Daring, Dramatic and yes even Drag Queens, but most importantly it stands for DALLAS! And we are Dallas Proud!
It’s October 30, 2010 and the United Court of the Lone Star Empire’s has returned in its familiar flamboyant style to celebrate the 36th Annual Imperial Coronation Evening!
Again this year we return to the Crown Plaza Hotel, in the heart of Market Center, to crown our thirty-sixth pair of monarchs. Crowds will be dressed in their best bib & tucker to attend the coronation ball. Courtiers from far and wide, from Austin to Vegas, from Houston to NYC and other countries will arrive in anticipation of experiencing Texas Style hospitality throughout the weekend of festivities. Many folks throughout Big D, from all different walks of life will be there as well touting Big Hair and Big Jewels! The high-and-mighty to the hoi polloi will witness the crowning of Dallas's new Monarchs and while they're at it, have a fabulous "Big D" good time including wonderful entertainment, a well stocked bar, delectable Hor-d-orves, a silent auction, and around or about the stroke of midnight, the culmination of the evening occurs with coronation. Join us...ya hear!
